What is XML?

According to w3schools.com:

  • XML stands for EXtensible Markup Language
  • XML is a markup language much like HTML
  • XML was designed to carry data, not to display data
  • XML tags are not predefined - you must define your own tags
  • XML is designed to be self-descriptive
  • XML is a W3C Recommendation

All of the data contained with the footballwebpages.co.uk site can be accessed in XML format. This means that
people with the skills required to process (interpret) it can make their own pages based on the data supplied.

If you are one of these people you will need the DTDs below to correctly process the data:

Appearances
Attendances for a competition
Attendances for a team
Form guide
Goalscorers for a competition
Goalscorers for a team
League progress
League table
Match grid
Matches for a competition
Matches for a team
Records
Sequences
Who's going up?
Who's going down?

You may also need the following two pages when using our XML feeds:

List of competitions (xml version and dtd also available)
List of teams (xml version and dtd also available)
